How Agents Get Paid!!!

As is mentioned above, the commissions vary from broker to broker, country to country etc. When it comes to the commissions, it must be understood that the commission also gets shared among the agents involved inside the real estate agency. Mister T pays all its agents a percentage of what it receives from the client and thereby keeps all parties happy.

As we make this post, let us also shed light on the number of the private agents that are in town, there are close 200 real estate agents operating in the city of Colombo and many of them are not backed by a real estate agency, hence they operate on a very private and personal scale.

The agent culture must change

The country needs to change this system of letting anyone and everyone become agents and make a buck out of it. There has to be some sort of real estate governance in the country where an agent can register under a broker and work in the most ethical and professional manner before becoming a broker on his own. The sad irony in this part of the world is that people here do not even know the difference between an agent and a broker.
